Principal VMware-to-Nutanix Migration Architect
We are looking for a Senior VMware migration expert with proven hands-on experience migrating enterprise environments from VMware to Nutanix or similar platforms. This is a contract/consulting opportunity, starting with an initial 4–8 week strategic engagement, with the potential to extend into the delivery phase and longer-term technical leadership. You’ll support a large US enterprise client in shaping and validating the migration strategy, identifying risks, and recommending practical solutions based on real-world migration experience. This is a high-impact, client-facing role combining deep technical expertise, architecture, and strategic consulting.

- Identify technical risks, dependencies, potential bottlenecks, and mitigation strategies.
- Advise on workload assessment, dependency mapping, migration wave planning, cutover, and post-migration validation.
- Recommend approaches for minimizing downtime and operational risk during migration.
- Evaluate migration tooling and opportunities for automation and high-volume migration.
- Contribute to effort estimation, delivery planning, and migration team design.

- Strong knowledge of Nutanix or comparable VMware-alternative platforms and their migration approaches.
- Experience with workload assessment, dependency mapping, migration wave planning, cutover orchestration, and post-migration validation.
- Ability to identify real-world migration risks and recommend practical solutions based on previous experience.
- Experience designing, implementing, or reviewing migration strategies for enterprise-scale environments.
- Ability to discuss specific migration projects you have personally worked on, including your role, scale, approach, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Strong client-facing and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex infrastructure topics clearly and confidently.

- Nutanix and/or VMware certifications.
- Experience automating migration activities using PowerCLI, PowerShell, Python, or infrastructure automation frameworks.
