Domain Architect, Laboratory Informatics and Scientific Data
We are looking for a Domain Architect to design lab informatics and scientific data-management architectures across multiple systems, and to align them with scientific and business needs.
Location:
The position is hybrid with regular travel to London/Oxford for in-person collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Define the target-state architecture for lab informatics and scientific data across ELN, LIMS, inventory, scientific registration and sample-management systems.
- Design FAIR-aligned data architectures with strong metadata, data lineage, ownership and reusable research data products.
- Architect integrations across instruments, laboratory automation and scheduling or orchestration layers.
- Lead technical product evaluations and proofs of concept, and recommend platforms based on evidence.
- Work within enterprise architecture governance and Technical Design Authority processes.
- Explain architecture options and trade-offs to scientific, business and technical stakeholders.
What we expect:
- Deep experience in life-science, pharmaceutical or biotech laboratory digital transformation.
- Practical experience with ELN, laboratory inventory, scientific registration and sample-management solutions.
- Strong understanding of plate-based assays, imaging, omics and high-throughput laboratory workflows.
- Experience with laboratory automation, robotics, instrument integration and scheduling or orchestration.
- Experience designing lab informatics and scientific data-management architectures across multiple systems.
- Strong knowledge of APIs, event-driven architecture, microservices, cloud-native patterns and domain-driven design.
- Experience designing FAIR-aligned scientific data architectures.
- Practical experience with metadata, data lineage, ownership, data catalogues and reusable research data products.
- Experience leading or supporting technical product evaluations and proofs of concept.
- Experience working within enterprise architecture governance and Technical Design Authority processes.
- Ability to explain complex architecture options to scientific, business and technical stakeholders.
